At Sarx Creature Conference Roslyne Smith, Marcello Newall, Kathy Dunn

I am excited tonight, as tomorrow, I will fly to England to attend the Sarx Creature Conference held March 18th in London!  I will meet Roslyne Smith and Marcello Newall for the first time!  We have been blogging together for nearly four years.

The story began in December of 2013.  I had been introduced to an online animal welfare organization called “Not One Sparrow”.

NOS’s prayer group was part of their ministry for animal welfare; in this forum I met Roslyne.  I loved how she wrote, her passion for people and animals!  Soon I discovered she has put together a book called “Animal Welfare Through The Cross: A Collection of Animal Christian Concern Articles”.  The book is about the work of ACC, Animal Christian Concern, their tireless efforts in campaigning “for an end to suffering imposed on animals by humans. Especially for the animals who suffer in intensive farms, exportation, experimentation, the fur trade, blood sports and entertainment.”  (You can read more about their efforts at the link above, and order the book for yourself – all proceeds go to charities that help animals in the United Kingdom.  There is a link to the left of the page under “Feature Book” which will take you to a page where you can order it!)

I decided I wanted Ros to join me in blogging and reaching out to the church community online.  I was so glad she said yes!

It was in the early part of 2014 when I met Marcello online.  He commented about our resources page.  And then I began seeing comments by him on the Woodland Hills Church sermons.  I loved how he wrote and his knowledge about theology!  Turns out we are both followers of Greg Boyd, teaching pastor of WHC and theologian, author and Bible scholar!  We began messaging back and forth on various theology topics and found we have a lot in common.  I asked Ros if she was okay with growing our little budding ministry to three of us, and she was happy that we invite him!

The three of us have been praying for one another and conversing back and forth; in many ways, we are a small group – we advise each other on certain theological matters concerning SAGC’s ministry, share our lives and concerns and that of our families at times.  We work together to support the SAGC Prayer Group. Recently, we added our fourth gifted writer and prayer event leader, Jessica Lopez!  She has a love for Jesus that shines through every word she writes, and has a passion for prayer!  Jessica now also is part of our small group, as we all support each other with prayer and friendship!  The only downside to being able to attend the Sarx Creature Conference is that not all of us will be there, we won’t get to meet Jessica; but I am certain that sometime in the future we will be meeting her, too!

We are hoping to continue to grow, as the Lord leads.  We are looking for someone who wants to join our team as our technology guru.  At the Sarx Conference, we will be meeting up with others from around the world that we know through animal welfare circles, such as Patricia Mikkelson from Jesus Vegans Ecovillage; Phil Whitehead from Canada and blogs at “philsveganblog“; Philip Guyott whom I just met online and is from the UK.  We may find our techie person soon, we’ve been praying for someone!

If you are new to our mission, please see “About Us” on the menu.  Quote:  “The focus of this site will be mainly on our special calling to help bring the voice of Christ to issues surrounding His animal Kingdom; in no way are we alienating the human race nor are we down playing the many serious issues plaguing mankind; to the contrary.  Christ’s love is indivisible.  His call to us to care for the earth and the animals is as urgent as is our call within any issue plaguing mankind, as we witness for ourselves what is happening to the human race precisely because we have not heeded this particular call.  There is room within the doctrine of the church for these issues.  The call to practice Christ’s Kingdom values of love, kindness, mercy, non-violence extend to ALL He has made, first out of respect, love, and obedience to our Mutual Creator, and next, because as those created in His Image, we were created to do so.”

Let everything that breathes sing praises to the LORD! Praise the LORD!
~Psalm 150:6

Thank you for reading and following our blog!  Stayed tuned for more on the Sarx Conference when I return.  We are excited about what the Lord is doing in our world for his animals, and look forward to where he may take us as a ministry!  God bless. ~Kathy

Share the love!

My calling as a Child of the Creator is to take the Gospel, as it relates to the WHOLE creation, to the world; and to remind the Church of its Biblical responsibilities to non-human animals and the earth.

Reblogged this on Jesus Vegans and commented:
I am so glad I got to meet Kathy Dunn in person, and her friends who write for the Shepherding All God’s Creatures blog, Roslyn and Marcello. Plus a host of other people–Phil, Phil, Marcello’s father, Brian (Kathy’s English friend) Brenda, Sunniva, Tim, Daryl, and many more. What a fulfilling, inspiring day that was. I will always remember it.
